Alessio Lisci: “You can’t do so much in a game and then concede three goals”

Osasuna head coach Alessio Lisci spoke to the media after Sunday’s 3-2 loss to Celta Vigo at El Sadar.

“In football, the team that scores wins. I think it’s clear we deserved much more, but we need to be more attentive. We allowed very little, but what we did allow was clear. We have to be smarter in certain situations — you can’t do so much in a game and then concede three goals like that,” Lisci said.

The coach added, “We need to be more aggressive. I think we played better than we did against Getafe, and as well as we did in the first half against Elche. We kept it up in the second half too, which was something we struggled with against Elche. We’ll analyze things with a cooler head, but even with an outstanding performance, there's still room for improvement. Playing well and losing means something is still wrong. We can’t just go home thinking we deserved to win and everything’s fine — no, we need to work and make adjustments.”

Lisci concluded, “Those goals came from very avoidable mistakes, but that’s the way it is right now. When we make a mistake, we get punished. Things will turn around, but we have to make that happen.”
